The London Chess League

Notes for Match Captains

1. Match details must be sent to the Secretary within 7 days of the match whether or not the match has been completed. Please note that failure to do so will render your club liable to a fine.

2. At Golden Lane Community Centre it is the responsibility of the designated 'home' team (See Fixture List) to set up the equipment but the 'away' team is expected to help. Both teams must ensure equipment is put away before they leave. To facilitate this, finished games should be cleared away quietly by participants.

3. Details of adjournments must be filled in on the Match Report Form as well as on the sealed move envelope. The envelope must be signed by both players. Teams are responsible for providing their own envelopes for sealed moves.

4. The playing of five minutes chess or similar games is STRICTLY PROHIBITED at Golden Lane Community Centre.

5. In computing the eligibility of players who have played in higher teams, games won by default count as appearances. Penalties will apply as standard when an ineligible player wins by default.

6. Games lost by default on resumption of an adjourned game are aggregated with other defaults for the purpose of calculating penalty points.

7. Any defaults known before team lists are exchanged must be taken on the bottom boards.

8. The disclosure or discussion of sealed moves during adjournments is to be discouraged. It is a dangerous practice and can lead to dispute.

9. You must ensure that players are registered with the Secretary in accordance with the Rules of the League Competition before they play in the League. Please let players know that if they play for more than one club in the League during the season then they will automatically be suspended from the League.
